NO ORANGE HEIGHTS CALL TO ACTION & UPDATES:

• TUESDAY, MAY 28, 6PM, ORANGE CITY COUNCIL MEETING:  We need you to attend, submit your public comments and show your support.
• NEW MOUNTAIN LION FOOTAGE: On April 3, 2024, at 1:22AM, we captured our 1st trail cam footage of “Newport” (M317), a young male mountain lion who is regularly moving through the 400 acres between Irvine Park and Peters Cyn!  Special thanks to Winston Vickers, California Mountain Lion Project & Wildlife Health Center, for Newport's confirmation and movement data points.
• NEARBY RESIDENTS RECEIVED MAILER: The Irvine Company sent a mailer and updated their website to convince the public that it's okay to destroy the 400 acres because they set aside other land.  They told the Rotary Club of Orange that they may start work in June.  We were told told by the City of Orange Permits Office that The Irvine Company doesn't have any effective permits to start work.  Nothing has been submitted to either the City nor Caltrans to start work.
• LETTERS SENT BY CONSERVATION ORGANIZATIONS & TRIBE: Center for Biological Diversity, Sierra Club, Hills for Everyone, Friends of Coyote Hills, OC Chapter of CA Native Plant Society and Gabrieleno Tongva Band of Mission Indians sent letters to the City of Orange requesting a new EIR and expressing concern about the impacts to mountain lion, wildfire, special status species and cultural resources.  Read the letters on our webpage.
• WRITE LETTERS: Write your letter to the City of Orange to preserve the 400 acres between Irvine Park and Peters Cyn and request a new EIR.  Find language, including a list of arguments/impacts, and letter templates on our webpage.
• PRINT FLYER: Download and print our flyer and distribute.  Available on our webpage.
• CONTACT THE MEDIA: Alert the media (newspapers, news outlets, radio, television) and let them know your concerns about the impacts of this inappropriate project.
• RECORD OBSERVATIONS ON INATURALIST: Use iNaturalist.org to help us identify all the wildlife and plants that live on the 400 acres between Irvine Park and Peters Cyn.
• MAKE A VIDEO: Collect footage and share your story about why the 400 acres deserve to be protected.  Share on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and other social media platforms.
