NO Onimiki North Hydroelectric Dam

NO Onimiki North Hydroelectric Dam
The Issue
The proposed Onimiki North Hydroelectric Dam Project threatens human, wildlife, flora, fauna, fish, bird and turtle habitats on Lake Temiscaming, QC.
This dam would devastate acres of irreplaceable forest and shoreline, threatening diverse flora and fauna, and destroying habitats essential for fish, wildlife, turtles and birds. The consequences are irreversible. Imagine waking up to a horizon stripped of life, the hum of nature silenced under the hum of industrial ambition.
Numerous studies show how hydroelectric projects, while contributing to renewable energy, often come with considerable environmental tolls. The devastation wrought by such projects on local ecosystems and biodiversity is well-documented. Protecting our local environment cannot be sacrificed in the name of progress when alternative and less destructive energy solutions exist. We have other options that respect our environment and community, options that align with renewable energy goals without the heavy environmental footprint.
There is substantial evidence of successful campaigns against such projects worldwide, proving that rigorous protection of natural habitats and community heritage is possible. Joining forces, communities have stopped similar projects in the past (Tabaret), making a stand for both ecological preservation, sustainable development and social acceptability.
We need to voice our concerns and urge decision-makers to reconsider the detrimental path this development would lead us down. Let us push for a comprehensive environmental assessment that respects our local ecology and seeks sustainable alternatives.
Join us in this fight to protect our land, culture, and ecosystem. Sign this petition to halt the Onimiki North Hydroelectric Dam Project.
