No One Should Be Denied Treatment: Push for Free Healthcare Now!

The Issue

Why Do Hospitals Let People Die Over Money?

Imagine this.

A mother rushes into the emergency room, cradling her unconscious daughter. She begs for help, but the first question the hospital asks is:

“Can you pay?”

Not “What happened?” Not “How can we save her?”—but money.

And if the answer is no, they turn her away or make her wait forever without really trying to help—until it's too late.

But what if the answer is yes?

Then the hospital should do everything to save her, right?

But instead a second betrayal begins.

The Hidden Greed That Kills Patients

The hospital doesn’t have the right equipment, the right specialists, or the right facilities—but instead of transferring the patient to a place that does, they refuse.

Why?

Because as long as the patient stays, the hospital keeps billing them.

They delay transfers, stall critical decisions, and keep patients trapped—not because they can't be saved - but because the hospitals make more money the longer they stay.

Even if it costs them their life.

This isn’t just a nightmare. This is real life for too many families in the Philippines.

My Story: When a Hospital Chose Profit Over a Life

This is exactly what happened to my friend's husband.

He didn't die because there was no way to save him.

His wife begged them to act. She pleaded for a transfer to a facility that had the rights specialists and equipment.

They refused!

Not because there was no hope. But because they wanted to keep billing him.

A man who could have lived—if only the hospital had simply done the right thing.

Instead, they stalled. They delayed. They waited. They clung to him like a paycheck.

And then it was too late.

At his bedside and then again at his wake, his young son cried over his casket, begging for his father to wake up, asking if the hospital failed him and didn't treat him right. Vowing he will fight for justice when he is old enough for his untimely death.

But how many more families will suffer before they change?

This is what hospitals have become. Not places of healing, but businesses designed to profit from suffering.

Hospitals exist to save lives, not to drain wallets.

  • If you don't have the money, you're denied care.
  • If you do have money, hospitals can still steal your loved one's life—just to keep making a profile.

This isn't healthcare!

No one should be denied treatment because they can’t afford it. No family should have to sell their home to pay a hospital bill.

And no patient should die in a facility that can’t help them, just because of corporate greed.

South Cotabato Has Already Shown Us the Solution and Proven It's Possible

But it doesn't have to be this way. South Cotabato has already set an example—proving that free healthcare can exist in the Philippines.

They have a hospital where patients are treated based on need, not their bank account.

They don’t trap patients for profit. They treat them.

And, if necessary, they transfer to a better equipped facility—because that’s how healthcare should work.

If South Cotabato can do this, why can’t the rest of the Philippines?

A Call for National Free Healthcare

It's time to change the system.

We need a national healthcare plan that guarantees treatment for every Filipino—no matter their income.

Every province should have at least one government-funded hospital that operates like South Cotabato—where saving lives comes first.

From Manila  to Cebu, Davao to Ilocos Norte—every Filipino deserves what South Cotabato has.

No more hospitals holding patients hostage over unpaid bills.

No more lives lost to greed.

Sign this petition now. Demand a healthcare system that values people over profit.

Together, we can save lives—before another family suffers.
