No more taxing Hendry County residents for unreceived benefits.

No more taxing Hendry County residents for unreceived benefits.
The Issue
Every day, I face an uphill battle with the inadequacies in our local service provisions. My own story begins with my daily journey to put out my garbage—a mile-long trip. My daily correspondence? I travel two miles just to check my mailbox. These are not trivial distances in a county where roads are often unimproved and services are lacking. Even more concerning, in times of emergency, timely assistance is something I can only hope for, as emergency services struggle to reach our isolated areas in an efficient manner.
This is the stark reality for many residents across Hendry County. Despite consistently paying taxes intended to support public services, the benefits of these taxes remain elusive. Roads remain in poor condition, access to emergency services is compromised, and many basic facilities that should be a given, like waste collection and postal services, are nothing short of a challenge to access.
The current tax system continuously demands from residents without reciprocating with the promised facilities and benefits—this is unfair and unsustainable. Public taxation should translate into tangible benefits for all citizens. We deserve roads that are serviced, prompt emergency response times, and basic utilities that meet our needs.
We urge the Hendry County Commissioners to conduct a thorough review of the tax allocation and ensure that funds are utilized efficiently to upgrade and maintain public services. Immediate measures should be put in place to improve road conditions, enhance emergency services accessibility, and ensure fair distribution of public amenities.
Let us stand together as a community to demand accountability and change. Our taxes should result in improvements that reflect the contributions we make as responsible citizens. Please sign this petition to encourage the Hendry County Commissioners to stop taxing for benefits that are not rendered. With your support, we can work towards a county where the taxes we pay genuinely improve the standard of living for all residents.
