We, the undersigned residents of Rutherford County, Tennessee are hereby
petitioning the Rutherford County Mayor’s office, the Murfreesboro City Mayor’s office and City Council, the Rutherford County Commission, including the Public Works Committee, the Public Works Chairman, Anthony Johnson and the Steering Committee Chairman, Craig Harris to honor the Rutherford County Commission’s decision in April 2018 to oppose the expansion of Middle Point Landfill onto Rutherford County by Republic Services. The Public Works Committee Chairman, Anthony Johnson scheduled a meeting on February 4, 2025, that allowed a sales pitch to be introduced by Republic Services without allowing citizens to comment, resulting in Commissioner Craig Harris shamelessly marketing the agenda of Republic Service. Therefore, we petition and implore the entities named above to take our concerns seriously and abide by the 2018 decision. We petition the above-named entities to move forward with the alternate plan involving the transfer station and expansion of recycling facilities as well as an alternate site for disposal of waste. We petition the County Mayor to continue to collaborate with the City of Murfreesboro to promote a
better life for all Rutherford County residents. As residents of Rutherford County and the City of Murfreesboro, our affixed signatures are an endorsement of the statements in this petition.
