NO MORE LKQ
The Issue
LKQ, an auto salvage company, located at 950 W Norvell Bryant Hwy Building 200, Crystal River, FL 34429 is working to expand the existing acreage of the auto salvage yard by 34.54 acres adjacent to their present location. This expansion will take 34.54 acres of LDR to IND which includes Heavy Industrial with a Planned Unit development for auto salvage.
There is a public meeting at the Lecanto Gov't Bldg on June 5th, 2025 at 9 am, room 166 to review and possibly approve this expansion. It is already stated that the BOCC proposes to adopt or change this land use.
The need for citizens to attend and voice opposition to this expansion is severe. This expansion will have the propensity to pollute the Florida Aquifer and add to local drinking water concerns.
Historically, salvage yards have polluted. The past violations and high fines paid by this company for violating EPA laws are all on the web. If violations occurred in the past, what guarantee that there will not be an expanded number of violations with expanded land use?
The growth of this county is NOT following the original growth intended when the original Land Maps and zoning were established. If they were being followed, land changes would not be occurring as they are today.
