I live just a few miles from the Santa Susana Field Lab (SSFL), one of California’s most contaminated Superfund sites. For decades, the Department of Energy used SSFL for nuclear experimentation, and they promised to fully clean up the pollution—radioactive waste, toxic chemicals, and harmful metals—by 2017.
But now it’s 2025, and they haven’t even started. Instead, they’re trying to tell our community that a full cleanup isn’t possible and that most of the contamination will have to stay.
Will you join us in urging the Department of Energy to keep their promise? Sign our letter asking them to remove all the pollution and restore the land to protect our environment, water, wildlife, and the people who call this area home.
