I have spent a significant part of my life fishing, boating, kayaking, and camping along the Little Wolf River, a treasured river in Wisconsin known for its scenic beauty, rapids, and clear water. Providing high quality fishing for trout, bass, northern pike, and walleye, it has held a special place in my heart, and in the hearts of many in the Manawa community. The river is also a crucial spawning ground for sturgeon, confirming its ecological importance. Tragically, on July 5, 2024, the dam breached on the Little Wolf River, releasing over a century of sediment pollution and a million gallons of wastewater downstream. The aftermath has been devastating for our local ecosystem. Despite the damage, there is now a plan to rebuild the dam, which will only exacerbate the ecosystem's distress. We believe there is a better path forward. Our request is to afford protection for this stretch of the river under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. We urge our Wisconsin Representatives to bring this plan before Congress. Together, we can prevent further damage to the Little Wolf River, preserving its integrity for future generations.
