I am calling for a public apology to be followed by the immediate resignation of Ben Hover from Lansdowne Borough Council. ***edit - I am removing a sentence referring to use of the term "hysterical" towards a council member since I am told this has not been found in the public record*** His lack of respect towards women has been observed, noted and spoken out against many times over the years. The clear and obvious differential in respect that he gives to men versus women has been the topic of discussion and jokes for many years here in Lansdowne. He uses the platform of Borough Council to lecture, bully, and disrespect women on a regular basis, and has caused many women in the Borough to stop participating in the civic process to protect themselves from disrespect and bullying. It has been frequently observed how dramatically he changes tone when addressing women, adopting a lecturing and disrespectful stance, immediately becoming more deferential when addressing men. Ben Hover owes the women of Lansdowne a public apology. He owes the Borough Council a public apology. After making these apologies he should then tender his resignation so that women can participate in service to the Borough free of lecturing, slurs and disrespect.
