6/19/23 U.S.A. Update not pretty or encouraging. Please read thru to end.
It has been 20 months of labor intensive work since I started this petition. Victory is not any closer, to stop the NYC ACC from killing voiceless animals.
It is all about power and greed, at the expense of the innocent animal victims, who are treated like garbage, and leave the building dead in trash bags.
First, we need to regroup our approach. Friends, doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results is the definition of 'insanity'. That is exactly what most of us are do, and I have been guilty of it myself.
The petition has almost 12,000 supporters who have signed since October 17, 2021, when petition was created. Thank you for signing and sharing, but are you taking ACTION? Are you contacting lawmakers, holding demonstrations, circulating flyers, reaching out to the media? To put it simply. Emojis, and the usual comments of RIP, OMG, FLY FREE, YOU DESERVED BETTER, do not work.
If we truly want to change the system and STOP THE KILLINGS. we need to: UNITE, FOCUS, COMMIT, PERSIST, TAKE ACTION, WORK HARD, at changing the laws. Not just in NYC, but throughout our NATION. It is shameful that a civilized country like ours, still has KILL SHELTERS, where KILLING IS THE FIRST CHOICE.
Animal lives matter. We need to change our perspective to saving lives, not EXTERMINATING LIVES. It has become a habit. Killing is fast. easy, less staff is needed. Do you know animals are killed when ADOPTERS ARE WAITING?
At 15,000 signatures, this petition becomes one of the top signed on Change. Being in the top tier, it will attract more attention, but does not mean we will achieve Victory. Link to sign: bit.ly/2YnxyAw
The expanded goal is NATIONWIDE NO KILL animal shelters throughout the USA, in every city of every state. When Federal laws are passed, kill shelters can be shut down overnight. With this goal in mind, I started a new group to "Demand Animal Mercy", last November, 2022. We have almost 1,000 members, everybody is invited to JOIN and PARTICIPATE. Membership is free. All I ask is please STAY UNITED, and COMMIT TO TAKING ACTION. Amen. Arlene Millman
