Protect Our Community – Reconsider the Palestinian Flag at Hamilton City Hall
Hamilton’s Jewish community is a vital part of our city’s fabric. Yet they are facing a disturbing rise in antisemitic harassment and violence – and the proposal to fly the Palestinian flag at City Hall during an active and deeply painful conflict is making many of them feel less safe, not more included.
This isn’t about politics. It’s about people. City Hall belongs to everyone, and decisions about the flags it displays must weigh the genuine impact on real residents. Right now, that impact risks deepening division rather than fostering the unity Hamilton is known for.
We call on local authorities to pause this proposal and instead invest in initiatives that bring our community together – dialogue, education, and mutual respect for all.
