It's heart breaking that we are still being so wasteful, despite being aware for years now, of the Environmental emergency we're in: The pollution, and the depletion of natural resources! 

This petition is about the overwhelming unnecessary use of air conditioning globally.

How many times have you walked into a building, a café, an office, a hotel, etc, and thought to yourself, 'I wish that the air conditioning was off.  It's a lovely warm day outside, I'd like to fully enjoy it indoors and outdoors, and I don't really want to walk into a freezing, cold place and wear a jumper or even a coat!' 

My worst experience was in a hotel, where I switched off the aircon in my room, as I didn't want it at all. I came back to find that they switched it back on themselves and it had been on all day while I was out. what a shocking waste. Can you imagine this happening all over the world?

This of course is not about banning it, as it provides much-needed relief on very hot days. It's about radically reducing  our air conditioning usage.

There are health benefits too (less artificial cooling), as well as lower electricity bills.

This petition calls on policymakers, businesses, individuals and especially governments to promote sustainable energy use by managing air conditioning more responsibly. To only use it when absolutely necessary.  To encourage good habits, incentives and regulations.

The emergency is far from being taken seriously. "The train is speeding and is about to crash! Half the people on it are squabbling and the other half are partying and going to lavish banquets". Only a small percentage of wonderful organisations/people are involved with amazing environmental incentives!.

The Environmental  emergency should be in the main news, on a daily basis! With updates on what's happening, what needs to be done, and how to go about it. We should all be working together, like a big ant colony...

(I'm also planning to start a petition for the alarming material waste, that as far as I am concerned, has gotten worse despite all the initiatives in recent years! ).
