Dear Alvirne High School administration,

The plan for 5 days straight of block days will be detrimental to students. Expecting students to sit still and learn beneficially for 90 minutes every single day is unrealistic. Expecting teachers, whose classes are never normally blocks more than one day a week, to plan out additional work and lessons for multiple block days a week is ridiculous. With the 2022-2023 school year coming far too soon, this plan appears unrealistic and rushed.

If this plan would really look for the best interest of students and staff, implement it at a later date. The Alvirne community has been struck hard by COVID and while this plan tries to have the best interest in mind, there lacks any credibility to this interest. Students will not stop skipping class because of more block periods. Students will not stop misbehaving because there are shorter lunches.

The issues seen in behavior will not be solved with four block periods every single day even with the 25 minute lunch and 40 minute flextime. The students of Alvirne do not want this plan to come to fruition, we urge you to listen.
