NMC: Don't Make Over 600 Medical Students In Rajasthan Suffer Needlessly
The Issue
The future of over 600 undergraduate and postgraduate medical students in Rajasthan is at stake because of the very untrustworthy workings of the National Medical Commission (NMC)
On February 24, 2022, the NMC carried out surprise inspections at five colleges – Anantha Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Udaipur; American International Institute of Medical Sciences, Udaipur; Geetanjali Medical College, Udaipur; Pacific Institute of Medical Science (UMARDA), Udaipur and Sukh Sagar Medical College and Hospital, Jabalpur.
The NMC decided that these colleges were not conforming to the prescribed minimum standard requirements. I'm pursuing my post graduation at the American International Institute of Medical Sciences, Udaipur. The NMC has cancelled the academic session 2021-22 with effect from 14th April 2022.
This decision has left us students very worried about our future. If the NMC had felt during the inspection that these colleges were not fit for teaching, then why did it allow these colleges to go ahead and allow a fresh intake of both UG and PG students?
Many students left their All India counseling seat in other colleges to come here and now the NMC tells them that their colleges are not fit for studying! What does the government want from us? All their decisions are taken without collecting any feedback from the students? We don’t know whether our colleges will continue to function, even the college authorities are not telling us anything. The NMC hasn’t said a word about the students who will be affected by the closing down of these colleges. Why have we been kept in this state of limbo? The NMC is murdering the dreams of hundreds of aspiring doctors and jeopardising their academic careers. Kindly support this petition and raise your voice against the autocratic rule of this regulatory body. If the colleges were not up to the mark they should not have been allowed to conduct admissions. Why should the doctors suffer for the loopholes in NMC INSPECTIONS?
Appeal to the Prime minister, Health MINISTRY, Govt of RAJASTHAN, RUHS, Indian medical ASSOCIATION,NMC, MCI, SUPREME COURT to look into this matter and give JUSTICE TO THE 600 doctors whose career is at stake.
