Nissan EV service and support
The Issue
The Juneau Electric Vehicle Association (JEVA) and Southeast Alaska Nissan Leaf owners petition Nissan to provide service and support the hundreds of Nissan Leafs in Southeast Alaska. Juneau, Alaska has one of the highest per capita and largest Leaf communities in the world; yet there is no service for owners in need of recall, warranty work, or other service and support. Our Southeast Alaska communities rely on the Alaska ferry system and a barge service to ship vehicles from the lower 48 to our cities and towns. The cost to ship one Nissan Leaf from Seattle to Juneau is $1,650.00... one way! While a Leaf is a great vehicle for Southeast, Alaska a minor repair or vehicle issue takes $3300 to fix. Imagine having to ship it to and from Seattle for a minor programming update or for an airbag recall that takes a technician less than 1 hour to fix. Southeast Alaska Leaf owners are requesting Nissan's corporate leadership and management proactively and professionally remedy this situation by periodically sending a service technician to Juneau and other key communities and then finalizing arrangements to have a Southeast Alaska authorized service center.
The Juneau Electric Vehicle Association has been corresponding and discussing these matters with Nissan officials, for now, two years with no success. It is now time for Nissan to step up, provide service and support, and resolve this matter.
