Make DLC Available to Restore Content Cut/Censored inWestern Releases of Games
We believe that Free DLC should be made available to restore content to games which was cut or edited in the western release of games. This approach would satisfy more people which would end up with more sales of your games allowing you to make more money overall.
In recent years western game publishers have been getting more and more negative feedback for releasing versions of their games with content which is either cut, edited, or censored.
One of the reasons publishers do this is in order to keep age ratings down and another is to make games more "appropriate" (or so they think) for western audiences.
These publishers sacrifice a lot of sales by ignoring gamers who either want the more mature experience or want the game closer to the original Japanese version.
In this age of digital game distribution publishers could easily keep everybody happy by making the cut content available via optional (preferrably free) DLC. Doing this would make the game available in different forms and keep (almost) everybody happy which would result in the greatest profit for the publishers.
This technique has been used successfully by several PC game publishers such as JAST which cut some extreme content from games which pushes legality in some regions, and made restoration patches available so that people in more tolerant regions could get the full experience. Similarly several games which are censored on steam have patches available outside of steam to restore the cut content. However it would be good if Steam themselves could facilitate these patches such as the one for Vanguard Princess.
Any company which would choose not to take this approach would most likely be doing so based on personal opinions and not for sensible business reasons as all you are doing is missing out on the extra sales you would make form the people who avoid buying games with cut or edited content.
