Save Alpha Dream
Save Alpha Dream
I normally don’t do these since I rarely see a petition make a difference honestly, but there are miracles here and there. This petition is to bring to light the absolute talent and nearly unparalleled skill that the developers at Alpha Dream, the one’s responsible and mainly known for their hand in the Mario and Luigi RPG series, carry within them.
It’s been recently announced that the company, as far as I’m informed, has filed for bankruptcy due to sluggish sales. This can probably be due to the spotlight being entirely on the Switch, causing a remake of Bowser’s Inside Story on the Nintendo 3DS to sell very poorly.
However, anybody that’s played even a single hour of any of the Mario and Luigi games will find it nearly impossible not to laugh or smile or feel a type of strong emotion towards the characters, the writing, the music, the enemies, the worlds, the story and so much more. These games ooze such a unique and irreplaceable charm and feel to them, that they’re responsible for getting people in love with not just Mario and Luigi, but RPG’s as a whole.
The music that these developers release into the world are nearly spine-stingling with each replay, even more so when you’re face to face with an unforgettable final boss. From the masterpiece spectacle that is The Grand Finale from Bowser’s Inside Story, a song that bombards you with so many instruments, each one uniquely dedicated to an emotion that a player feels during an intense final battle. You feel the energy you need from the beat of the drums, and you feel hope that you’ll pull through with each press of a piano key. To the much slower-paced, but carrying just as much energy as the previous song, Size Up Your Enemy from Dream Team. A song fitting for a titanic battle within one’s own mind.
I could on first hours about the writing, the visual style, the characters and the worlds. I may just sound like I’m kissing ass and overpraising Alpha Dream’s games, but they are truly something special in the world of RPG’s and videos games as a whole. They’re special, and just how they made me appreciate and start loving RPG’s, these games have surely sparked a pursuit in career in the gaming industry for gamers.
Please don’t let a team as amazing and talented as the people at Alpha Dream fade away. I genuinely don’t know how it all works, but if Nintendo could buy them out, save them from their debt, or maybe even. get the attention of another major RPG developer like Atlus or Intelligent Systems to see what these people are capable of so we can continue to see their talent praised by millions of people.
If you’ve played another Alpha Dream’s games, and felt them leave a lasting impression, share this with your friends, or anybody you know that loves RPG’s and hasn’t gotten the time to check out the Mario and Luigi RPG titles.
