Remove Byleth or another Fire Emblem fighter from Super Smash Bros Ultimate

The Issue

The disappointment and anger regarding the latest DLC fighter added to Smash Ultimate is clear. In Melee, we got Marth and Roy. In Brawl, Roy was removed and replaced with Ike. By Smash 4, however, the Fire Emblem representation exploded, with the reintroduction of Roy, as well as Robin, Lucina, and Corrin. Now, with another limited DLC fighter slot taken up with Byleth, the series stands at eight fighters. Other IPs haven't received new fighters in YEARS, and many deserving IPs have no representation at all, or have been pushed into Assist Trophies or Mii Fighter Costumes.

Specifically, Nintendo noted that Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the latest entry of their very popular Xenoblade series, was simply too new to include as a main roster entry, and instead offered players a Rex Mii Fighter costume. However, Byleth hails from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the latest entry in its respective series.

Perhaps this isn't a huge problem. After all, Mario and Pokemon have many fighters as well. However, it could easily be argued that these IPs are household names, and the PILLARS of Nintendo. Fire Emblem, quite simply, is not.

The disappointment doesn't stop there. At the 2018 Game Awards presentation, Reggie Fils-Aime clearly stated we would see NEW IPs represented in the Smash Ultimate Fighters Pass:

"These are going to be characters that are new to the series, just like Joker from Persona 5. Characters you would not anticipate to be in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate."

The "too many swords" joke from the Byleth reveal shows that Nintendo knows about the fans' problems with the game, and CHOOSES to ignore them.

Simply put, Nintendo knows what its fans want, and deliberately ignore them for the sake of advertising specific games against the rules they themselves previously set. The practice of promising DLC fighters that the fans will love has ended, and it's time for corrections to be made. Byleth, or another Fire Emblem representative, must be removed from Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
