The Paper Mario series is a beloved franchise that deserves an entry that lives up to it's legacy. The fans of this series praised it for its fantastic RPG mechanics and deep storytelling. Unfortunately, Nintendo seems to have lost sight of what made this franchise so important to their fans. We have sat through two consequtive entries in the series that have been complete departures from the original formula, and we're about to sit through another. Many were hoping that the Wii U entry would be a return to form, however, that does not seem to be the case. It appears that this game centers around the same crux that many fans ridiculed the last entry for: sticker collecting. The gameplay loop became unenjoyable, and with no real reason to instigate combat, many fans abandoned the game before completing it. I am afraid that if Nintendo makes the same mistake again, the fans will not be interested in buying this new entry. Poor sales may be the final nail in the coffin for one of the most treasured franchises in Nintendo's lengthy history, and what a shame that would be. Nintendo, what we are asking is simple: return the Paper Mario series to the original formula that made it such a fan favorite. With all of the RPG elements, partners, and stellar storytelling that kept us playing for hours on end. You may not fully understand why we love this franchise so much, but we do. We can't stand idly by, and watch a another entry tarnish the series reputation. I am asking on behalf of the fans, the integrity of the franchise, and on behalf of you, Nintendo. Please craft this game with respect for the originals, and with the passion that made them so great. You have set the bar high, but we believe you can achieve this goal. In the shared wisdom of Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoru Iwata: "Nintendo developers are extremely insatiable when it comes to whether what they make resonates with customers or not. They'll do anything to achieve it." It's time to live up to that motif. Do not allow his legacy or his values to be forgotten. Thank you.
