For those who aren't aware of the current state of Pokemon: we are being given a game with seemingly little effort put into it at full price and it is not okay. For a while now, Pokemon has been slowly decreasing in quality and we as fans have accepted it, all be it with many complaints. I know many people were ready for an amazing new iteration of Pokemon now that it is on a console, but Game Freak has done the very opposite. The most well known of these problems would be the National Dex cut, which we now know cuts 61% of past Pokemon. Now many people say this alone isn't too much of an issue, but it's not just that they are limiting the Pokedex; the Pokemon included are not ones the fans want to see. You can see this is a problem just by looking starters and legendaries that got in, or should I say didn't get in since all starters and legendaries were cut except the Charmander line and Mew, and while I don't want to get into the gen 1 bias issue this is one example of many in these games of it. Besides those Pokemon many fan favorites and Pokemon that fit the reigon were cut, some examples being many fan loved dragon types and (for fitting the region) the Lillipup line (you know, the british dog Pokemon). This is not even the worst of the issues in this game though. For starters, 144 moves that are mostly staples to the series were cut. This is slightly minor, but this extends to moves like Bubble and even Dragon Rage. I know that there are people who will say these aren't too big of issues, but this isn't it; the game is in total an average of 18 hours long with minimal post game and bad balancing. This entails limiting of catchable Pokemon in the Wild Area, low difficulty (constant heals and OHKOing late game gym leaders for example), and (this is mostly opinion that I have heard) a lackluster story. I don't think this really needs explanation of why this is bad. And to top it all off: the graphics are the same as the 3DS games with constant graphics issues and slowdown. This is probably due to bad coding and optimization, but that is sadly expected of Game Freak at this point. That is a big problem though; as consumers and fans we shouldn't expect and accept this lackluster work and let them keep pushing yearly releases at the expense of bad quality. We need to boycott Game Freak and show them we won't accept this any more. Pokemon is an experiene no other game really provides right now and as it stands we need to make sure that that experiene is a good one.
