This petition is to prevent the removal or defacing of any historical monuments in the state of South Carolina. This includes ALL monuments and does not exclude Civil War memorials. The purpose of this petition is to show lawmakers how important this law is needed to protect the integrity for any and all who fought in wars since the beginning of time to shape our great state into what it is today. Social media is proof enough that the race war is stronger than it has been in decades. Until ALL sides- black, white and all ethnic groups are heard- the racial tensions may continue to grow. It is our hope this petition will begin to change that reality for the better with a law protecting existing monuments and enforcing laws with penalties to those who deface those monuments. All of the undersigned would agree:
