Approve a more discrete shipping and packing measure (removing all logos and likeness)

The Issue

NIKE, Inc. recently implemented new packaging materials that place the bold words JUST DO IT multiple times on black tape. This black tape is used to package the shipment of shoes that can be worth up to $1,000 or more. Though their system has only been in place for a couple years this black tape attached to a rectangle box has become synonymous with NIKE sneaker shipments and is extremely recognizable to customers, delivery drivers and onlookers.

Though this was a nice gesture from NIKE, the advertisement puts our packages at high risk of thievery.

With annual footwear sales of $22.3 billion, NIKE, Inc. is number 1 in the global sneakers market. Along with traditional retail sales, it is estimated that the sneaker resale market in North America is about $2 billion and rapidly growing. The sneaker resale market is expected to hit $6 billion by 2025, according to a recent study from Cowen.

This means, our NIKE packages are worth a lot more than what we paid, or expected to be worth a lot more from a bystander who sees a box with the shiny words JUST DO IT on your doorstep three days after the release of a shoe that is reselling for $500 - $1,000+.

While our packages do have insurance, that only covers the retail amount. If you purchase a shoe with a retail price of $160.00, like the Jordan 6 "Cactus Jack" for example (retail $160 / resale $600 - $1100), you may receive the amount you paid for the shoe but you will not be able to purchase another pair of those exclusive sneakers with the retail amount you'll be reimbursed with. So, all the work you put in to become that lucky purchaser, waking up at 7am, getting through the high traffic application, sitting by your phone waiting for a SNKR Pass, will all be for nothing.

I ask you to join me in taking the necessary steps to request NIKE, Inc. remove all logos and likeness from the outer area of their shipping boxes.
