STOP THE PROPOSED TAKE-OVER OF BRAYTON HIGH SCHOOL BY SELBY HIGH

The Issue

North Yorkshire County Council is proposing an amalgamation of Selby High and Brayton High schools. Their claim is that an amalgamation will help improve both the results and finances at Brayton High school by providing better management led by the Governors and Leadership at Selby High School.

What they fail to acknowledge is that: -

Brayton Results were affected by forced intakes of poorly performing/expelled students from other schools.
When intakes are taken out of the performance calculations, both schools had similar results.
Selby receives full funding as pupil numbers are high, yet it is still forecast to lose £250,000 next year.
They claim the amalgamation will create a new school, however new schools, by law, are to be Academy run.
This amalgamation, therefore, equates to nothing other than a take-over that serves only to threaten the welfare and security of Brayton High School staff and Pupils. It is an unnecessary action that is being taken to resolve a problem that amounts to nothing more than one set of below par performance scores.  Honestly, do you see Chelsea merging with West Ham next year because of one bad season?
