Tell ICE “Don’t Deport Florida Dreamer Luis Avelar”

DREAMer Luis Avelar needs our help right now. He is detained in Broward Transition Center in Florida Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is trying to deport him as we speak .He was brought to the U.S. as a young child.

Luis was brought to the United States when he was only 11 years old. His parents, originally from Guatemala came here legally with a visa. They were seeking a better life in America. Life was not easy at first for the family, but soon they overcame many of obstacles new immigrants face. Luis is an outstanding son who loves his parents so much for sacrificing their life to give him a better future. He still helps them in every way he can.

He attended John I Leonard High School and was very involved in the school activities and community. Luis never knew he was an undocumented immigrant until it was 16 years old. When it was the time to get a job and a driver’s licenses.

Luis has been living in the United States of America for more than 11 years now. He speaks perfect English and his whole life is in the United States, he does not know any other places. Sending him back to Guatemala to a Country that he doesn’t know will be devastating for his family and his girlfriend who have been dating for the past 5 years and have plans on getting married soon.

Luis was arrested by the local police of Palm Beach County for not having a driver’s licenses and was turned over to ICE without been booked in jail first. He is now detained and waiting on deportation as soon as this week.

We are asking the department of Homeland Security not to deport Luis back to Guatemala and to use the prosecutorial discretion memo release by John Morton on June 2011.Luis is not a threat to national security and has ties to his community. He has plans to marry his girlfriend and he is helping his family.

Luis is an American, except in papers. He deserves a chance to the American dream. Allow him to stay with his family and his girlfriend.

Take a moment to make a call.
