Please don't be fooled, this is not a U-turn by East Ayrshire council,but an attempt to claw back some good press after having their I'll thought out, regressive decision to remove garden recycle waste collections from our council tax services laughed at and critisised by the media and their residents.

This "free"collection has always been in the council diary but was removed only a week or so ago.

Due to the outcry at the implementation of these charges they have reinstated it with a view of pacifying those who have spoke out against this shambolic decision...it has not worked.

The arguments for the decision to charge for what should be a mandatory service are laughable.

They claim that by charging they will cut their carbon footprint. The same lorry, will be driving the same route, the same amount of times a year, in search of brown bins with permit stickers on them. Meaning no carbon footprint changes, in actual fact the increase of personal care travelling back and forth to the local skips will only increase our carbon footprint. 

East Ayrshire council chose to implement these charges and they can choose to retract that decision too.

Ultimately we need the Scottish Government to make it law that Garden Waste recycling is collected, as it is law that household recycling just be.
