Terminate Nash Grier and Cameron Dallas's Movie Deal

The Issue

Nash Grier and Cameron Dallas should not be put in children's media

Nash Grier and Cameron Dallas, despite their obvious allure due to their combined view count, are the worst people to be put in front of children and teens.

In December 2013, the two boys, and JC Caylen (another Youtube/Vine personality) posted a video titled "What Guys Look For In Girls." The three boys then went on to list qualities such as:

  • Brown hair
  • Not being too easy
  • Not playing too hard to get
  • Being good at video games but not better than him
  • Being entertaining to him
  • Varying one's hairstyle
  • Removing all your body hair (during the video Nash exclaims "SHAVE YOUR BODY!")

This went on for nine minutes. It is clear that both Cameron and Nash don't understand their audience. Their viewership consists of mostly teenaged girls. Saying that this is what all guys look for and then going on to list their personal (and incredibly contradictory and misogynistic) preferences is incredibly damaging to a young girl's self esteem.

Even more concerning is Nash's outspoken racism. There are several easy to find tweets that can be seen here where Grier expresses his distaste Muslims. He also posted a Vine in which he makes an offensive jokes about Asian cultures.

Nash posted, in April of 2013, a Vine in which he loudly announced, with a homophobic slur, that HIV is an LGBT-only issueNot only is this an offensive slur, this is inaccurate information that he is spreading to young, uninformed kids, who will take this information and run with it. He also has a history of posting blatantly homophobic tweets herehere and and here.

Another less discussed instance was his support of Justin Bieber during his trial for driving while intoxicated.

These two teenagers are both horrible influences for kids. What's worse is they're too young to see that they are. Giving them a bigger platform will not only give them a wider audience, but an inflated sense of invincibility. They will continue to say and do whatever they want and the next generation of kids should not be learning from them.
