Recently it was discovered that the fan-favorite episode of the animated program "Mid-Life Crustacean" had been REMOVED from both the Paramount+ streaming service and Amazon Prime Video, while its sister episode, "The Great Snail Race" still remains.

This has upset a lot of fans.

The episode sees Mr. Krabs undergoing a mid-life crisis, so he joins SpongeBob and Patrick on their night on the town in an attempt to feel young again.

The scene in question which may have prompted the removal was when Patrick talks Mr. Krabs into a panty raid. They sneak into a house and score a pair of bloomers, only to be caught, and worse yet - it’s the home of Krabs' mother, who gives him an earful and grounds him.

Now it is very plausible that Nickelodeon simply thought this moment of the episode was simply inappropriate for kids, and that’s why it may be gone.

But Nickelodeon already knows that a large portion of the fanbase is composed of nostalgic adults, and they CAPITALIZE on that, too. Their official SpongeBob social media accounts, their official SpongeBob merchandise, etc. frequently targets nostalgic fans with posts, products, etc. based on memorable moments that adult fans remember fondly and frequently quote (mostly from the first three seasons), whereas kids (the target audience) wouldn’t really care about new or old episodes or whatever like nostalgic adult fans do. If Nickelodeon weren’t capitalizing off of the adult fans’ nostalgia, this would’ve been a little more excusable.

The least they could do is bump up the rating on this episode or include a warning before the episode or something else, because if media is to be removed from streaming due to its content, it should be for reasons such as racial insensitivity or anything else of the like that actually proves harmful to society.

Not to mention, what they've done is pretty hypocritical. They still have the episode "Are You Happy Now?" which features a handful of grim SUICIDE JOKES. Also of course they still retain the episode "One Coarse Meal" which has a scene where Plankton attempts suicide by lying in the street waiting to get run over, after his fear of whales is exploited by Mr. Krabs to the point of him developing severe paranoia.

A panty raid is nothing compared to suicide jokes, so why does this one get to stay? Hypocrites.

If this petition fails, we may never be able to legally view or stream these episodes again except on home video, which is barely used anymore. If we succeed, a fan-favorite episode will be restored, and the fanbase shall rejoice!
