Damien Oliver started this petition to Nicholas Fletcher MP

During the summer lockdown takeaway alcohol provided a lifeline for pubs, bars and breweries in England, particularly independents. With the recent announcement that has been made moving to a national lockdown this lifeline has been removed, but large supermarkets have been allowed to carry on serving drinks for off-premise consumption. Many small businesses, already adversely affected by summer lockdown, will be at breaking point and may disappear forever, the loss of one of the UKs greatest institutions, the local.
CAMRA national chairman Nik Antona said "Pubs and breweries were already reporting losses and the risk of closure before Christmas, and this will only add to the risk of permanent closures within the next few months. CAMRA and the entire pub and brewery industry are now urging the Government to reverse this bizarre decision and ensure the survival of our pubs and breweries."
Please sign this petition to highlight to Parliament how important this issue is to the English public and show solidarity to Landlords, Landladies, Brewers and all those who work in the service industry. Pubs have always been there for us and now we must stand with them, make our voices heard.
