In the UK around 50 babies per year, equating to one baby per week, are abandoned by their birth parents. As there is no safe haven for surrendered babies in the UK they are often left in cold and dangerous environments. It is illegal to abandon a baby, especially in these conditions, however there is no safe haven or safe environment for these babies. The conservative government constantly reject the idea of introducing safe havens in the UK. This needs to change, and needs to change quickly. The aim of this petition is to reach those with power to introduce a safe alternative for both the babies and their birth parents.
