We , the people of Airdrie are appalled at the decision taken by NHS Lanarkshire to site the new Monklands  hospital at a site in Gartcosh which is nearer Glasgow. This decision is a scandal as it isolates the residents in most of the area that it serves. The health of the people in the catchment area of Monklands hospital in Airdrie is one of the poorest in Scotland. The transport links to the new site at Gartcosh will be extremely poor preventing people to get the treatment that they need and are entitled to.  This new site at Gartcosh will serve as an overflow for Greatwr Glasgow and as a result the people in Airdrie and surrounding areas will be at risk.
The recent so called consultation has been extremely flawed only consulting a very small number of people. I call upon the Scottish government to investigate this farce and NHS Lanarkshire to see sense and either site the hospital at Glenmavis, Western Moffat or the current site in Airdrie.
