Save the Eccleshill NHS Treatment Centre!

Save the Eccleshill NHS Treatment Centre!
The Issue
Eccleshill Treatment Centre is at threat of closure when CareUK’s contract runs out on July 7th leaving 80-plus staff without jobs or relocation. The NHS has admitted there is no one in place to take over and CareUK want to continue here with the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group saying their offer was “not acceptable.” The NHS opened the centre, on the site of the former Eccleshill Upper School, in July 2005 at the cost of £6m and contracted out the centre to Nations Healthcare. This contract was withdrawn in July 2010 and awarded to CareUK who have a four-year contract which will expire on 7th July 2014.
Patients are referred here by GPs and it offers many services available at hospitals but with a shorter waiting time including orthopaedics, MRI and CT scanning and X-rays. Patients are very happy here with the cleanliness, service and results. The local community do not want to see it go!
If no one else can be found to take over the centre, there is a chance that the site could be closed, definitely leaving these staff without a job or the prospect of relocation as well as this vital service well used and liked by the local community gone.
It is time to put our services before the money and SAVE OUR TREATMENT CENTRE!
