Mental health services in the UK are dangerously underfunded. Britain’s mental health crisis is at its peak with a terrifying average of 18 suicides a day in England and Wales. Suicide is the biggest killer of men under 45. 1 in 4 people each year experience mental health problems. An URGENT referral in a crisis can take FIVE DAYS - in which time it can be too late. Psychiatric wards simply do not have enough beds for people who desperately need them. Community crisis teams are overwhelmed and their funds cannot stretch to suitably support everyone. Sufferers may have to wait months on end for their first therapy appointment or assessment, despite being in need of immediate help.
This is not good enough and is all due to underfunding of mental health services. The mental health crisis in this country is REAL and it is taking lives every single day.
More funds for mental health services means people will get professional help faster and taken more seriously by services. It can provide more support to families who desperately need it. This can save lives. Without extra funding, more and more lives will be lost and affected by this crisis.

Sign this petition to bring awareness to this topic and encourage the government to put more funding into mental health services and charities to give everyone an equal chance of obtaining life-saving treatment. If not for you, for someone else.
