After last nights Playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Toronto Maple Leafs are now 0-8 in the playoffs with Wes McCauley as a referee. Why does this matter? Well I will tell you.

When Toronto Maple Leafs head coach, Sheldon Keefe, was sixteen years old he played for the Quinte Hawks under coach David Frost. When Sheldon Keefe had a short NHL career, David Frost was his agent. 

On August 22nd 2006, David Frost (aka Jim McCauley, Wes McCauley's brother-in-law) was charged with 12 counts of sexual exploitation dating back to 1995-2001, while he was the coach for the Quinte Hawks. Sheldon Keefe testified against David Frost during the trial, creating a conflict of interest between the now head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the NHL Referee, as Keefe testified against his brother-in-law, whom he is reportedly close with.

The goal of this petition is to get the NHL, commissioner Gary Bettman, to either fire Wes McCauley permanently, or ban him from reffing any NHL game with Sheldon Keefe as head coach of one of the teams playing. This conflict of interest can no longer be overlooked, and should be considered going forward when making reffing decisions for future NHL games, if this continues, the fairness of the league will be at stake.
