Over the course of football history, fans gather to watch their favorite teams play one of the most beloved sports in the Nation week after week. The excitement and the thrill of the game, camraderie of rival games, and just the hope that your favorite team will rise to the top and finish the game with the W. All throughout the years the players, coaches, and anyone associated with them can be subject to penalties and fines if the rules of the league are not followed. However, Referees have never been held accountable for any wrong or missed calls. They are paid just like everyone else and should be held accountable for actions that could change the course of a game. With the technology that we have today to review and challenge plays, then it's past time that the refs be fined just as the players would for unsportmanlike conduct. A Ref can blatantly miss a call, like the Saints / Rams NFC Championship controversy along with others, and have no repercussions, while the trajectory of the game is thrown. No fine, no reprimands nothing. If the officiating team was held more accountable for their actions like the other employees of the league then maybe they would take more consideration into their job.
