The Washington Redskins have decided to change their team name and logo, but they haven't decided on what it should be yet. The name "Redskins" is considered controversial and offensive. The NFL team was founded in 1932, back when racism was still pretty big. Nowadays, racism is a very serious topic. Being offensive to people's cultures could even get you beat up. 

I want to fight racism and teach people about cultural differences. I myself am part Native American and mixed. I have been Native American for all 17 years of my life and I am glad to be one. I've learned about how cruel and ruthless our country used to treat Native Americans back in our lawless days. That was a hundred years ago though, everything's changed, which means the owners of the team thought right on their decision to change the name. 

The name Washington Natives spreads awareness to the Native American culture and what they used to do. The name Redskins is offensive, mainly because it is stereotypical, and not every Native American had red painted skin. Native American history and culture needs to be focused on more and this slight change to the team's name won't upset its fans too much. Also I'm sure it would attract more fans.
