These new rules will hurt high school competitive cheer tremendously, taking the sport back ten years in skills. It discriminates against athletes that need those skills to make college teams and earn scholarships, and also discriminates against female athletes clearly in violation of title IX and completely in violation of gender equity. Elite high school cheerleaders will leave high school teams for all-star teams, becuase they will not be allowed to reach thier full potential in high school cheer or will not be able to demonstrate skills they have already mastered.
