As you may have seen, the extension Securly was added to our chromebooks. This blocks YouTube videos, DisneyPlus, Netflix, even Change.org! This extension was added by the district to monitor us during distance learning, but with teachers and NMUSD staff being told to not go to school, even distance learning is in jeopardy. We are expected to remain home from school for weeks and for many people, these chromebooks are their only personal laptop/computer. Securly is used to prohibit us from being of task during class, BUT THERE IS NO CLASSES! So why should we not be able to use YouTube or other streaming services on our loaned chromebooks during the quarantine? We are not asking you to take this off forever, but at least during the time that school is not in session.
