Balaam Leisure Centre has been shut since structural problems were uncovered in late 2018. The council are considering various options but none include permanently reinstating this valuable community resource.  

Given the growing population of the area, we need more facilities, not fewer. Leisure centres with swimming pools help community cohesion and public health. Other areas of the borough have recently upgraded centres and we believe Plaistow deserves this too. Our children deserve a welcoming and family-friendly place to learn to swim and residents of all ages shouldn't have distance and lack of access to facilities become a barrier to keeping fit and healthy.

Join us in asking officials in Newham to reconsider their long-term plan to convert the leisure centre into housing. Save Balaam Leisure Centre!
