Plans for 115 houses in Northamptonshire have been rejected partly due to the impact dog fouling would have on a nearby nature reserve.

The reserve contained a rare plant, Dyers Greenweed, also found in Havannah Nature Reserve.

The Wildlife Trust in Northamptonshire objected to the development as it would have led to more dog walkers using their reserve.

In Newcastle, Havannah Nature Reserve is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including four plants on the local Rare Plants List: Gypsywort, Whorled Water-Milfoil, Spiked Sedge and Stag's-horn Clubmoss.

1,200 houses to the south of Havannah and 500 houses to the north will have a devastating effect on flora and fauna in the reserve.

We are still awaiting details of the decision notice for the Newcastle Great Park development and intend to file for judicial review once this is issued.
