Reunite children/separated families caused by the border closure

The Issue

This is NOT a request to open the borders, we fully understand that the safety of all New Zealanders is paramount and we agree with the New Zealand Government in protecting the country from a second Covid-19 outbreak.

This petition is on behalf of all the children separated from their mother or father currently working in New Zealand, we are appealing to the New Zealand Government to allow for the partner and children of temporary work visa holders who are currently working and residing in New Zealand to travel to New Zealand and be reunited as a family unit.

Children are vulnerable individuals who deserve to have their inherent rights respected and protected by the only people in society powerful enough to do so - adults. Children have the right to live in a family environment and to have contact with both parents who are relied upon for nurture and guidance, they have the right to education and should by no means be deprived of this and of their liberty in being refused to return to their homes and livelihoods.

Children do not traditionally take part in political processes - children's views go unheard on the many issues that affect them now or will affect them in the future.
