My name is Louis, from Auckland, New Zealand, and I am 12 years old. I am starting this petition because I am worried about the future of my generation, and the next, and the next. Our world is throwing away too much plastic, which can take up to 470 years to degrade completely. This is taking up many landfills, and killing many animals and other life. Lots of people don't know what can and can't be recycled, and about 25% of plastic isn't recycled. Before the 1990s, all of New Zealand received milk bottles in glass weekly, and it was all recycled. This is extremely enviro-friendly and kind to the environment, and I want to bring it back to Auckland, so that my future can be safer and more sustainable. Another good thing about milk in a glass bottle is that the milk lasts longer and is closer to its original state than other packaging methods.
