Recently, I went to take the SAT with my school ID card to prove my date of birth, but the test supervisors only accepted student IDs with a date of birth. So, I had to show my passport, which I brought just in case.

Students who do not have a driver's license or a passport find it difficult to prove their date of birth. (Some students are not old enough to have a driver's license, and it is sometimes risky to carry important documents like passports.)

Student IDs with a date of birth would be useful when proving your identity at the SAT center, movie theater, bank, or hospital. Below are some of the examples of situations you might need your student ID to prove your identity for:

1. Taking the SAT
2. Watching a PG-13 or R rated movie
3. Opening a bank account
4. Applying for a job
5. Applying for welfare
6. Applying for medicard/social secuirty
7. Drive/buy/rent a car
8. Rent/buy a house

9. Adopting a pet

10. Buying alcohol/cigarettes

11. Renting a hotel room
12. Buying a cell phone
13. Picking up a prescription

14. Holding a rally or protest

15. Blood donations

16. Voting!!!
     

All schools provide school ID cards to their students. To increase the utility of student ID cards, I request that the New Tork City council should require all schools to include the date of birth in their ID cards.
