iReady is a horrible, horrible program. It teaches kids that they need to do things only in the robotic way that the program wants them to. At one middle school in upstate New York kids are required to do 10 math iReadys and 7 ELA ones. The problem with this is that these "lessons' can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 hours. and most likely the latter. Kids lose family time staring at the screen for hours and hours just learning information that they will never need to know again. Don't even get us started on how the program uses noises. It has possibly the most annoying voices ever portrayed in its lessons and makes that really horrible noise when you get a question wrong. Which makes kids feel afraid to raise their hands in class because they think that they are going to hear that noise or something terrible will happen. All in all this program is extremely bad. Rember that middle school I mentioned before? Well, I am a student there and iReady is even damaging to my mental health. I have insomnia and a lot of that comes from the stress of middle;e school stress. And this program only increases it. Please, please stop it from doing that.
