Laryssa''s Law for New York State Posthumous High School Diplomas

Laryssa''s Law for New York State Posthumous High School Diplomas

The Issue

On January 18, 2005 my sister Laryssa Veronika Falkowski was killed in a car accident only a block away from Hicksville High School during her senior year.

Presently, New York Sate Education Department doesn't have a provision for posthumous high school diplomas.  This petition supports Laryssa''s Law so that any child who passes away while registered in a school in New York State should be recognized by a state issued high school diploma.  All families of children who pass away from the first day of kindergarten to the last day of twelfth grade, should receive a diploma acknowledging their child.
