Petition Closed

On Sunday, July 29, 2012, Heather Boyum was out for a training ride on her bicycle getting ready for her next triathlon event. At about 7:45am, her life was tragically taken by two drunk drivers; a motorist and a motorcyclist. Heather was a wife, mother of two young children, a teacher, a friend, a member of the Moms-In-Motion organization, and a very talented triathlete. She had touched so many lives, and was only 40 years old.

The two individuals that took her life were not first-time offenders with the law and neither of them held a valid driver's license. One of the drivers was just released from prison on parole from his third DWI charge. The laws for DWI and the punishments given to offenders need to be reviewed, along with the state regulations for parole and probation. Justice needs to be brought to Heather's family and friends, as well as those who have lost loved ones to the irresponsibility of drunk drivers. Please sign this petition in support of Heather, her friends and family, and other victims whose lives have been taken by drunk drivers.
