This petition aims to urge New York Law School to expel Michael Bongiovanni due to rape allegations against him by Fordham University student Julianna Czernyk during his time as a student at Fordham University in 2020. 

Czernyk took her story to the Bronx Supreme Court and filed a civil suit on Nov. 5, 2021, against Michael Bongiovanni — currently a law student at New York Law School following an internship he held with the New York State Supreme Court — on charges of gender-motivated violence, assault/battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

According to the civil complaint, Czernyk never met Bongiovanni before the night of Oct. 24, 2020, but he raped her and attempted to silence her from notifying Fordham and local authorities. The suit also alleges that Bongiovanni had sex with Czernyk while she was completely incapacitated.

Fordham alum, current students, Fordham’s greater community, and individuals beyond Fordham are raising their voices to push your institution to remove this student. Bongiovanni should not be allowed at NYLS, and he should suffer consequences for his actions.
