The signers of this petition adamantly oppose any change in the "Pet Friendly" wording of the declaration that would diminish the rights of Pet owners.
The Issue
Due to the elevator repair project and the longer waits for an elevator, it has been suggested to take out the pet friendly wording from the New Yorker condominium association declarations. Per the suggestion, no new dogs would be allowed into the building and eventually dogs would be phased out of the building entirely. Existing dogs are grand-fathered in. In order to do this the Board of Directors must vote to hold a unit owner vote. The unit owner vote must carry a 2/3rds majority in order to carry. This petition is an attempt to show the Board of Directors that a 2/3rds unit owner vote is not possible and we refuse to allow the wording to be removed. The New Yorker prides itself on being pet friendly and see no reason to change the declaration in any way which hinders our rights as pet owners. Further more, we pledge to vote against this change if a unit owner vote is scheduled or if we are renting, to contact our owner and urge them to vote against it.
