Put a Price on Plastic Pollution in New York City

Put a Price on Plastic Pollution in New York City
The Issue
- We use over 31,000 plastic bags every second worldwide!
- Plastic bags kill and entangle marine animals, create burdensome cleanup costs as litter, and damage fishing gear and ship propellors.
- Microscopic plastic particles ground up by waves and UV sun rays spread through the marine food chain, and can contaminate seafood.
- According to the United Nations, "Plastic waste causes $13 billion in annual damage to marine ecosystems".
- Tell New York City to pass the current bill for a 5 cent fee on disposable shopping bags (paper and plastic).
- 5 cents a bag is a small price to pay for our economy, our health, our oceans, and our future.
