There is a proposal for a crematory at the center of town, and must be stopped! The town has rushed this proposal and if granted commercial zoning, construction could start any day. As a town we need to preserve our historic church street and stand together to prevent this from happening.

A crematory within town will:

• Reduce Property Values
• Ruin our Historic Church Street
• Increase Hazardous Pollution Levels within town

The crematory does not add any benefit to the town and is unneeded; there is already a local crematory owned by the same company. By allowing split commercial/residential zoning in a historic neighborhood sets a troubling precedent. Additionally, other businesses were required to meet exorbitant requirements to open up, yet this proposal is already in progress.

The Funeral home has already purchased the property for the crematory, and added paving to the existing garage that will be converted. As New Windsor looks to expand while retaining the historic nature, it is imperative that this crematory proposal be denied.
