New Science Labs for Cootamundra High School

Cootamundra High School needs new laboratories. The NSW government's 2016/17 budget has put money towards the upgrade of 50 Science laboratories in secondary schools. Cootamundra High Schools laboratories are outdated and in disrepair. The youngest of the labs was built in 1971 and the oldest in 1957 with little to no changes. Most schools in NSW, especially in the city, have had upgrades when their schools were much younger. Students in rural schools are already disadvantaged enough without being faced with poor facilities. It is extremely important that we gain support for this petition to ensure the children of Cootamundra are given equal opportunity in their education. Particularly when STEM jobs are becoming increasingly more important.
Whilst the public rural schools are suffering, schools in Sydney in the private sector received 111 million dollars of tax payer funding last year, to subsidize projects such as St Catherines in Waverly, building a 63 million dollar auditorium, complete with orchestra pit, water polo pool, and fly over tower for theater productions.
